Your huge impact in this role

This role is an outstanding opportunity to be part of the Structured Data organization, that is in the center of eBay’s transformation of how sellers and buyers interact on the site using a product-based experience. By leveraging existing assets and cutting edge ML capabilities, we are on a mission to revolutionize eBay through Search, SEO, and User Experiences.

The Structured Data organization is in the midst of a groundbreaking transformation, in which customer-centricity, ML and true agility are core to our strategy. This role sits squarely in the middle of this change, in a team which is a core enabler and contributor to the organization’s success.

You will be a part of an Engineering team which collaborates closely with Data Scientists to find the best ML-based solutions for complex tasks. You will be personally designing and implementing the team’s solutions for scalable deployment of these algorithms and models which will be used to enrich all of eBay’s huge 1B+ Listings database.

In order to achieve these, you will be partnering closely with peer experts within the organization, as well as with the Search team, global AI team, and others. The role will require constant learning and teaching; both leveraging and contributing to shared resources - all facilitated by a startup mentality as well as a truly collaborative spirit.

What shall you bring to the table?

• 7+ years experience in backend software development
• B.Sc. in computer science/software engineering or other relevant education
• Strong programming skills in at least one language like Java or Python
• Experience with Big Data environments such as Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, DWH, Analytical databases
• Understanding of microservices architecture
• Deep understanding of testing methodologies
• Experience in training and running ML models - Advantage
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes - Advantage
