Controller

One of our clients - a Family Office focusing on serving top tech founders in Israel, is looking to hire a controller to join their finance team in Tel Aviv.

Their core activities encompass liquid and private market investments in real estate, private equity, and debt funds. Their average client holds a net worth of $50M, with many surpassing the $100M mark.

As a Controller, you will report directly to the VP of Finance while working closely with the senior management, investment, and operations team. Your analytical acumen and profound understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and consolidation will be important in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the production of Group financial statements and tax reporting, managing all third-party accounting operational functions.
• Prepare and manage the Group's annual operating budgets, forecasts, and reports.
• Handle payroll processes, invoicing, service providers' payments, and bookkeeping.
• Collaborate with the Group’s third-party accountants, auditors, advisors, and service providers.
• Continuously assess and improve the accounting operation, implementing new processes and tools as necessary.

Investment Portfolio Management:

• Manage liquidity & and cash across client portfolios and banks.
• Track portfolio investment allocation, capital commitments, and investment returns, and conduct performance analyses.
• Manage and project distributions and cashflows from investments.
• Foster relationships with local and international banks, handling tasks like opening bank accounts for clients and investment vehicles, wire transfers, and negotiating bank fees.

Portfolio Reporting and Consolidation:

• Oversee the financial consolidation and reporting systems on a per-client basis across the entire investment portfolio.
• Produce and track ongoing performance reports and investor statements.

Tax Planning, Structuring, and Reporting:

• Engage in both Israeli and International tax reporting.
• Manage entity formations, maintenance, and bank accounts.
• Assist clients with third-party accountants on annual tax filings, capital declarations, and tax optimization.

Desired Candidate Profile:

• A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
• A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in an Accounting or Finance department role at a financial institution or a “Big 4” accounting firm.
• Experience in an accounting or finance capacity at a private equity or investment fund/group.
• Understanding of investment portfolios, securities, and related accounting principles.
• Expertise in investment tax implications, including capital gains tax, dividend income, and other relevant tax regulations.
• Ability to analyze financial data, detect anomalies, and provide insights for investment decisions.
• Familiarity with local and international financial regulations and standards, such as GAAP or IFRS. For investment companies, knowledge of specific investment regulations is crucial.
• Advanced level proficiency in Excel.
• Fluent in both spoken and written Hebrew and English.
