Director of Security Research and Operations

Summary

As a Director of Security Research and Operations, you will be leading a large group of security researchers and security specialists, performing security research activities and providing security services to Varonis' customers worldwide.

In this role, you will be responsible for leading the research of cloud infrastructure and services, as well as organizational infrastructure. You will identify attack methodologies and develop strategies to defend against them. In addition, you will be responsible for leading Varonis's security operations, which provides Incident Response, Forensics, and Red Team services to thousands of large-scale corporates worldwide.

You will report to the VP of Cybersecurity in Engineering and will oversee the following responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Leading research roadmap, innovation, defining KPIs and research methodology
• Identify possible vulnerabilities in cloud infrastructure and services as well as organizational infrastructure and develop strategies to defend against them.
• Serve thousands of customers during Incident Response and Forensics sessions when they are under a suspected or real breach.
• Provide security simulations and penetration testing to identify vulnerabilities in our customers’ systems.
• Develop and implement security policies, procedures, and standards to ensure the highest level of security for our customers’ data and infrastructure.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that security measures are integrated into all aspects of our products/services.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest security trends, technologies, and best practices.
  
  

Requirements

• At least 10 years of experience in cybersecurity, with a focus on security research and security operations
• At least 5 years of proven experience leading a technical team of senior security specialists
• Strong knowledge of cloud infrastructure and services as well as organizational infrastructure
• In-depth understanding of organization’s security, risks and potential attack vectors in all of the organization’s perimeters
• Strong data analysis capabilities - Experience with identifying and analyzing trends or patterns related to security incidents in datasets (e.g. SQL)
• Experience with Incident Response and Forensics.
• Experience with security simulations and penetration testing.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

• Programming and scripting knowledge, ability to write and understand code in various languages
