Lab Analyst

General Description:

Alagene, the first & only (to date...) Israeli biofoundry, is looking for a talented & experienced lab analyst for its ongoing SynBio activity. The lab analyst will be responsible for various molecular biology operations in both bacteria and yeasts that are part of exciting, innovative & multidisciplinary projects, executed as part of internal activities or services, provided to leading bio-tech companies. The work will be conducted with a team of synthetic biology scientists to achieve timely milestones & the desired outputs.

Position Responsibilities:

• Contribute to lab operation for development, validation, and execution of workflows
• Contribute to efforts to establish and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for Alagene standard protocols
• Work together with a team of scientists to meet project deliverables
• Contribute to lab day-to-day operations (media prep, inventory maintenance etc.)

·      Contribute to molecular biology R&D projects practicing top notch molecular biology & directed evolution methods

• Operate high end equipment including fermenters and automated instrumentation for versatile experimental workflows
• Track experimental progress using lab notebooks

·     Report experimental results and progress to the management team

Position Requirements:

• B.Sc. or M.Sc. in molecular biology, microbiology, chemistry, biophysics, biotechnology, biochemistry or related scientific or technical field
• At least two years of experience in the industry in a relevant role
• Demonstrated competence in the execution of standard culturing and isolation techniques for bacteria and yeast, and the execution of standard molecular biology techniques (PCR, cloning etc.)
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Ability to execute and thrive in a dynamic startup environment

Advantageous Experience:

·      Experience working with yeast (S. cerevisiae and/or P. pastoris)

·      Experience working with Bacillus and/or Lactobacillus

·      Experience with fermentation techniques

• Experience developing experimental workflows
• Experience with plasmid editing software (e.g., Ape, Snapgene)
• Experience with Protein preparation and purification from microbes

·      Experience with laboratory automated systems

·      Practical knowledge of high-throughput biological processes
