Tenure Track Faculty Position at the Department of Statistics

The Department of Statistics at the University of Haifa invites applications for a tenure track position at all ranks beginning in October 2025. We are looking for applicants with outstanding research record. This position is open to both junior and senior-level candidates specializing in Statistics, Biostatistics, Operations Research, Machine Learning, or other closely related areas. 

Title: Tenure track faculty position at all ranks (Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor/Professor)  

Beginning: October 2025

Location: Department of Statistics, University of Haifa, Israel

The Department of Statistics at University of Haifa invites applications for a tenure track position. We are looking for applicants with outstanding research record. This position is open to both junior and senior-level candidates specializing in Statistics, Biostatistics, Operations Research, Machine Learning, Data Science or other closely related areas. The Department offers undergraduate, Masters’ and PhD programs in Statistics. The Masters’ program is taught in English. The Department of Statistics is an academic community with a strong research orientation, and supportive environment for both research and teaching.

Qualifications:

PhD degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, Operations Research, Machine Learning, or other closely related fields. Outstanding research record within the relevant discipline(s).

For Junior Applicants:

·        Proven ability to conduct independent research.

·        Strong evidence of potential for effective teaching.

·        Aspiration to contribute to the academic and collegial community.

For Senior Applicants:

·        Well-established record of research and teaching accomplishments.

·        Demonstrated scientific creativity and leadership in the field.

·        Experience in mentoring graduate students.

Responsibilities:

·        Develop and maintain an active research agenda.

·        Teach undergraduate and graduate courses.

·        Contribute to the department’s service and outreach efforts.

·        Successful candidates will be expected to teach undergraduate classes in Hebrew within a few years of commencement of the position.
