Technology Compliance Director

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide strategic guidance to the technology organization in developing a new product certification capability area by supporting these products across their entire product life cycle – from development to post-release
• Act as the primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders for any product certification and regulation topics, issues, or questions related to the Monitoring product portfolio (across all species)
• Develop a market-level understanding of the monitoring product portfolio across all species, all products related to the Aqua and Companion Animal species, and the reader's product portfolio
• Research and maintain end product Certification such as RF, EMC, Safety, WEEE, RoHS, REACH etc. for consumer and commercial products in the product portfolio for monitoring and readers
• Understand the current people, processes, and tools that support the certifications process across the monitoring, readers, Aqua and Companion Animal categories and develop a “team” mindset between these individuals; identify synergies and cultivate “ways of working” best practices
• Codify the roadmap and budget required to execute the monitoring, readers, Aqua, and Companion Animal certification strategy (cross-functional employees, contract support, 3rd party lab collaborations, etc.) to apply for and maintain product certifications
• Create a 3-5 year capability and resourcing plan for sustaining and supporting monitoring, readers, Aqua, and Companion Animal certifications under him/her and play an active role in talent decisions
• Manage relationships with 3rd party Certification Laboratories and Global Market Access agencies
• Collaborate with 3rd party labs to ensure independent testing of products during R&D phase and re-certification of products as necessary post-release
• Monitor Regulatory landscape, changes to regulations, standards and perform gap analysis of delta requirements. Assess those against new and existing product
• Establish a master product certification list by certification, product category, and country
• Participate in M&A transaction activities by creating “required/preferred” certification checklists to assess certification status and associated risks for products of interest, understand certification vendor mix of target, and other relevant certification tasks
• Collaborate with ID and legal counterparts to establish a risk management, triaging and management strategy when concerns arise about product certifications
• Collaborate with ID and legal counterparts to work toward implementing and maintaining a software solution for managing end-to-end product certifications
• Writing declaration of Conformity and performing Product Risk Assessment
• Expected travel is about 10% for travel across Europe/US/Asia

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field (e.g., Engineering / Technology / Management / Health Administration or a related field)
• 10+ years of experience in the Regulatory / Compliance / Certifications / Animal Health industry or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in regulatory compliance working for a fast paced consumer electronics business
• Extensive knowledge of RED, LVD, WEEE, EMC directives
• CENELEC or IEC committee member, previous work and engagement is highly advantageous
• Able to read and understand electronic schematics and engineering drawing
• Knowledge and understanding of CE marking and UKCA
• Self-starter who excels in an unstructured environment and is excited to actively shape and mold the boundaries of the role and capability area
• Experience supporting product certifications during the entire product life cycle from ideation to sunset but with a focus on pre-release complexities
• Possess a combination of managerial skills along with animal health and/or technology industry knowledge to influence the decision making in the organization
