Job Summary

In this role, the Lab Technology Engineer will work under the direction of the R&D Lab Manager to assist with test equipment qualifications, test fixture/jig design, test method development, and test method validations. This individual will also be responsible to create and maintain required lab procedures and lab layouts and equipment optimization and will bring excellent analytical, engineering, and organizational talent to the execution of development projects at West IL.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Lab facility and equipment/fixtures owner, including purchasing, receiving, handling, and maintaining per defined procedures.
• Ensures lab equipment are properly installed and qualified (IQ/OQ) and functioning per equipment specification.
• Responsible for designing laboratory test/assembly figures and jigs ( internally or by external vendor ), manage CAD models and drawing revisions.
• Works closely with and manages timelines of the machine shops and vendors used to procure and fabricate parts.
• Assists in the development of test methods, including test method validations/Gage R&Rs.
• Works closely with the Lab Manager, Lab Engineers Supervisor, and Lab Technicians Supervisor to plan and coordinate testing needs.
• Occasionally writes lab procedures and technical documents such as work instructions, test plans, protocols, and reports.
• Performs data analysis, as needed, for technical reports.
• Recognizes inefficiencies and takes initiative to improve processes and implement procedures to streamline workflows and increase effectiveness.
• Responsible to maintain a clean and tidy laboratory environment that is audit-ready at all times.
  
  

Basic Qualifications

• Education: Mechanical Engineer with 3+ years of experience , or Mechanical/Electrical Practical Engineer with 5+ years of technical experience
• Experience: Proven experience designing with SolidWorks, technical (electrical and/or mechanical) experience in an R&D/engineering laboratory environment
  
  

Preferred Knowledge, Languages, Skills And Abilities

• Able to be aware of all relevant standard operating procedures as per Company policy as they are related to the position covered by this Job Description
• Support and contribute to Lean Sigma programs and activities towards delivery of the set target
• Able to comply with the company’s safety policy at all times
• List any safety requirements applicable to role within your country
• Able to comply with the company’s quality policy at all times.
• List any quality requirements applicable to role within your country
• Excellent CAD design and drafting in SolidWorks.
• Excellent in Designing for Manufacturability, specifically machining and 3D printing.
• Experience with workshop handling (hands-on prototyping, fixing) .
• Knowledgeable in test method validations, specifically Gage R&R, a plus.
• Knowledge of statistics and experience using Minitab a plus.
• Proficient in MS Office suite including PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Advantage – working with SAP
• Knowledge of ISO 13485 – Quality Management Systems for Medical Devices a plus.
• Relevant work history and/or experience may be considered in lieu of degree
