Director of Product Design

We‘re in search of a visionary, forward-thinking Director of Product Design to manage and mentor an incredible team.

You’ll drive a culture of excellence in user-centered design, and foster our Product Design team’s skills and best practices. Working closely with your Product and Engineering counterparts, you’ll elevate our customer experience and help deliver on our shared vision for what the insurance experience can be.

In this role you’ll:

• Lead the Product Design group and oversee all aspects of its vision and execution, including structuring and optimizing the organization to achieve Lemonade’s business strategy
• Own the product design strategy, guidelines, and principles
• Establish and maintain processes to help the Design and Product teams rapidly build and ship best-in-class user experiences
• Facilitate and contribute to design critiques, investing in a culture of feedback and growth to continually raise the bar for quality
• Build systematic quality and consistency across product lines and maintain our design-led culture though innovation evangelism
• Preserve and enhance our approach to experimentation, prototyping, and user-research to validate design concepts and influence product vision

What you’ll need:

• A design portfolio that illustrates functional, delightful experiences (created both as an individual contributor, and via teams you have led)
• 10+ years of product design experience
• 2+ years managing other managers
• 6+ years managing and building multi-disciplinary design teams
• Experience leading successful consumer products at scale and proven track record of delivering impactful strategic work
• Strong leadership and social skills, and a natural empathy for both the customer and your colleagues
• Adept at quickly gaining a high-level understanding of an issue, while also being able to deep dive into low-level details
• Eagerness to accelerate team efficiency by improving processes and workflows
• Ability to work in an office environment a minimum of 3 days a week
