- Master's degree in Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience with modern, high-performance CPU architecture and microarchitecture.
- Experience in VLSI implementation of arithmetic calculation units.
- PhD in Mathematics.
- Experience in in CPU architecture and/or microarchitecture innovation.
- Experience and knowledge in IEEE floating point standards, including efficient implementation techniques.

As a Hardware Engineer, you design and build the systems that are the heart of the world's largest and most powerful computing infrastructure. You develop from the lowest levels of circuit design to large system design and see those systems all the way through to high volume manufacturing. Your work has the potential to shape the machinery that goes into our cutting-edge data centers affecting millions of Google users.
As a Senior CPU Architecture, Arithmetic, and Mathematical Algorithms Researcher, you will work closely with internal system teams and the CPU, SoC Architecture, and design teams to develop a comprehensive understanding of the CPU we build, the important performance metrics, benchmarks/measuring tools, and available optimization knobs. You will help to implement and define CPU ISA, extensions, and features, and take part in and drive decision-making. You will analyze Google data centers software workloads and define features algorithms to improve their compute efficiency. In addition, you will correlate performance projections with measured post-silicon data and be involved in defining new microarchitecture and architecture features.

Responsibilities
- Help implement modern high performance CPU.
- Collaborate with system architects, SoC, and CPU architects/designers, and software and application experts to understand current and future requirements.
- Define and develop arithmetic execution units, including optimized floating point calculation logic, crypto accelerator, and more.
- Participate in architectural and design evaluation of CPU features studies.
- Perform pre-silicon performance simulation and correlate with post-silicon measurements.
