GenAI Backend Developer (Freelance)

This is a freelance opportunity for a skilled and experienced Backend Developer to join our customer team and play a crucial role in the implementation of GenAI technologies within their mobile-first product. As a GenAI Backend Developer, you will be responsible for:

• Designing, developing, and maintaining backend systems, APIs, and services to power our GenAI application.
• Integrating with Systems, APIs, DBs and Knowledge Bases to retrieve fresh context (RAG) like inventory, routes, sales, etc.
• Processing audio and text prompts received from the frontend, transcribing and/or translating using NLP/LLM APIs, and routing it to the appropriate backend services.
• Formatting and returning useful clear responses to the user
• Collaborating with frontend developers and product managers to ensure seamless integration between the GenAI Backend you built and the frontend application
• Contributing to the development of new GenAI capabilities and expanding the range of supported spoken languages

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend systems, APIs, and services for GenAI integration.
• Integrate with external APIs to retrieve and process data.
• Implement OpenAI technologies for speech recognition and translation.
• Format and return responses to the user.
• Collaborate with frontend developers and product managers.
• Contribute to the development of new GenAI capabilities.
• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code.
• Conduct code reviews and contribute to code quality standards.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest GenAI technologies and trends

Qualifications

• Strong experience in backend development with Python, Scala, or JavaScript.
• Experience with GenAI technologies, such as OpenAI's API and other LLM vendors
• Experience working with APIs and databases.
• Experience writing unit and integration tests.
• Experience working in a fast-paced, agile environment.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Experience with Prompt design and Prompt engineering 
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Azure is a plus.
