Payroll Accountant (Maternity Leave Replacement)

We are looking for an experienced Payroll Accountant with strong knowledge of Israeli payroll regulations and payroll systems to manage the monthly payroll process for 300–500 employees. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate and compliant payroll processing while also supporting the bookkeeping team with payroll-related accounting activities.
This is a fixed-term position covering a maternity leave, with an expected duration of approximately four months (subject to extension). The role is based in Herzliya, on a hybrid basis.
Responsibilities
Payroll Management

Manage the end-to-end monthly payroll process for 300–500 employees in accordance with Israeli labor laws, regulations, and company policies.
Manage the global payroll process, overseeing and analyzing the work of payroll professionals to ensure accuracy, compliance, and consistency across regions.
Ensure accurate calculation and reporting of salaries, taxes, social benefits, deductions, and other payroll components.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee payroll records, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and internal policies.
Stay up to date with changes in Israeli payroll legislation, tax regulations, and employment requirements.
Work closely with HR and other relevant teams to resolve payroll-related issues and ensure smooth employee experience.

Reports & Reconciliation

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll reports for internal and external stakeholders.
Perform payroll reconciliations and investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
Prepare reports and analysis related to employee costs, headcount, payroll variances, and other payroll metrics.
Support the preparation of payroll-related documentation for audits and other external requirements.

Bookkeeping Support

Support the bookkeeping team in maintaining accurate and complete financial records.
Record payroll-related journal entries in the general ledger and support month-end closing activities.
Assist with account reconciliations and the investigation and resolution of accounting discrepancies.
Provide additional accounting and finance support as needed.

Requirements

Requirements:

4+ years of hands-on payroll experience, preferably managing payroll for 300–500 employees.
Strong knowledge and practical experience with Israeli payroll regulations, taxes, benefits, and labor laws.
Hands-on experience with Israeli payroll systems and payroll software (Hilan/Hashavim).
Fluent in Hebrew and English (written and spoken).
Certified payroll administrator (חשבות שכר) or equivalent professional certification – preferred.

Strong Excel skills, with the ability to analyze payroll data and prepare accurate reports.

Basic to strong understanding of bookkeeping and general ledger processes.
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and accurate, with strong attention to detail.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative and proactive approach.
High level of integrity and discretion when handling sensitive employee and payroll information.
