Backend Developer - Core team – Gaming Startup

We're a B2C gaming startup building a high-performance sweepstakes platform already serving real users. Our system handles real-time transactions at scale in a regulated space - reliability, speed, and security aren't aspirational, they're table stakes.
We operate lean - there's no dedicated DevOps team- so backend engineers own their services from architecture to production.
Engineers here don't just implement they design, decide, and ship.

About the Role:
We're looking for a Backend Developer with 3+ years of experience who thrives in a fast-paced startup environment and wants meaningful ownership over real, production systems.
You'll design and build backend services using .NET 10, contribute to architecture decisions, and collaborate directly with product and business stakeholders.
You'll work on problems that matter - transactions, real-time gameplay, scalability, and compliance, alongside a small, senior team that moves fast.

Responsibilities

✔️ Design, develop, and maintain backend services using .NET 10
✔️ Architect scalable, secure, and high-performance APIs
✔️ Apply backend best practices: clean architecture, SOLID principles, KISS, proper testing, logging, and monitoring
✔️ Build and maintain REST APIs and support real-time features (WebSockets — advantage)
✔️ Work with relational and non-relational databases (PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MongoDB)
✔️ Own features end-to-end — from design to deployment and production
✔️ Manage CI/CD pipelines, deployments, and cloud infrastructure (AWS)
✔️ Collaborate with product, business, and compliance stakeholders
✔️ Use AI coding agents (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, etc.) to improve development velocity and quality

Requirements

✔️ 3+ years of backend development experience with modern .NET (C# / .NET 6+)
✔️ Solid understanding of system architecture and scalable backend design
✔️ Experience with both relational and non-relational databases
✔️ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
✔️ Comfortable taking full ownership in a lean startup environment
✔️ Experience with or strong willingness to adopt AI coding tools
✔️ Independent, proactive, and solution-oriented

Nice to Have

✔️ Experience in gaming, sweepstakes, fintech, or high-scale B2C platforms
✔️ Experience with WebSockets, real-time systems, or event-driven architecture
✔️ Experience with AWS (ECS, RDS, etc.)
✔️ Familiarity with message queues and asynchronous processing patterns
