At Imperva, Test Engineering goes beyond testing, the teams engage in every phase of the software development life cycle, advocate for the customer and have the skills to implement effective test strategies and E2E automation solutions. Test Engineers collaborate with Dev, PM, and cross-functional teams.
We’re looking for an experienced QA Automation Team Leader to lead a team of 2-3 automation engineers while also taking a hands-on approach to drive the automation strategy and execution across a major project. This role involves leading the quality of a major project by collaborating with automation teams across various countries, ensuring alignment and excellence in test automation practices.
This role requires a balance of 60% hands-on involvement in automation and manual testing tasks and 40% leadership responsibilities, guiding the team and ensuring the successful execution of the project.
Responsibilities:
Lead and mentor a team of 2-3 automation engineers, providing technical guidance, setting goals, and ensuring the professional growth of the team members
Plan, design, develop, and execute Java-based automation tests for functional, acceptance, system, performance, and penetration testing
Lead the automation efforts for all aspects of a major project, collaborating with automation teams across different countries to ensure a unified approach and consistent quality
Demonstrate a high ability to deeply understand complex products, anticipate potential customer use cases, and design comprehensive tests to ensure these scenarios are thoroughly validated
Develop, extend, and maintain test automation frameworks such as TestNG, JUnit, or Cucumber, ensuring scalability and reusability
Create test plans and perform manual testing
Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Dev, PM, and other QA teams, to define, design, and ship new features
Drive the adoption of continuous testing and delivery practices within the team, integrating automated tests with CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins or Github action
Keep up with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to continuously improve the automation process and team capabilities
Qualifications:
B.Sc. in Computer Science or Software Engineering
At least 7 years of experience as a Test Automation engineer
At least 2-3 years of experience leading an automation testing team
At least 3 years of experience programming in Java, with deep knowledge of test automation frameworks like TestNG, JUnit, or Cucumber
Proven experience leading a small team of QA or automation engineers, including setting goals, mentoring, and providing technical direction
Extensive experience in designing, maintaining, and optimizing Selenium Grid for parallel test execution
Strong experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, Github action, including integrating automated tests into these pipelines
Experience working with DB, writing SQL queries, and/or NoSQL DBs
Experience in conducting manual testing and developing, as well as reviewing, comprehensive test plans
Experience with Linux scripting and fundamentals
Excellent communication skills with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and work collaboratively
Experience working with global teams across different countries - an advantage
Solid understanding of Cloud technologies (AWS, Azure) - an advantage
Strong analytical skills with the ability to solve complex problems under tight deadlines
Highly self-motivated person, fast learner and independent
“Can do” attitude with strong interpersonal and communication skills
