We are seeking a skilled QA Automation Engineer to join our team working on the SMART platform, a sophisticated enterprise application focused on customer management and organizational intelligence. This role combines test automation expertise with strategic manual testing to ensure the highest quality of our software delivery.
Position Overview
As a QA Automation Engineer on the SMART platform team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing automated test frameworks while maintaining a balanced approach with manual testing. You'll work closely with developers and product managers to ensure comprehensive test coverage across our microservices architecture and Angular frontend.
Key Responsibilities
Test Automation (60-70% of time)
- Design and implement automated test frameworks for both frontend and backend
- Create and maintain end-to-end test suites using Cypress/Selenium
- Develop API automation tests for microservices
- Implement performance testing scenarios
- Create and maintain CI/CD pipeline integration for automated tests
- Design and implement test data management solutions
- Develop reusable test automation frameworks and utilities
- Monitor and maintain existing test automation suites
- Analyze test results and maintain test reporting infrastructure
Manual Testing (20-30% of time)
- Perform exploratory testing for new features
- Execute manual test cases when automation is not feasible
- Conduct usability testing and provide UX feedback
- Verify bug fixes and perform regression testing
- Test complex user scenarios and edge cases
- Validate mobile responsiveness and cross-browser compatibility
Process & Collaboration (10-20% of time)
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and sprint planning
- Review user stories and provide testing estimates
- Collaborate with developers on testability improvements
- Document test cases and testing procedures
- Maintain test environment configurations
- Share knowledge and best practices with the team
- Report and track bugs using issue tracking systems

Required Technical Skills
Automation Skills
- Strong experience with modern test automation frameworks (Cypress, Selenium, or similar)
- Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript for test automation
- Experience with API testing tools (Postman, REST Assured, or similar)
- Knowledge of test automation best practices and patterns
- Experience with continuous integration tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI)
- Understanding of automated test reporting and metrics
Testing & QA Skills
- Strong understanding of software testing methodologies
- Experience with test case design and test planning
- Knowledge of defect life cycle management
- Experience with performance and load testing
- Understanding of web application architecture
- Experience with cross-browser and responsive design testing
Technical Knowledge
- Basic understanding of Angular and frontend technologies
- Knowledge of REST APIs and microservices architecture
- Basic SQL knowledge for test data management
- Experience with version control systems (Git)
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines
- Knowledge of test environment configuration
Tools & Frameworks
- Cypress or Selenium WebDriver
- Postman or similar API testing tools

Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in software testing
- 2+ years of hands-on test automation experience
- Strong programming skills in JavaScript/TypeScript
- Experience testing single-page applications
- Proven track record of implementing test automation frameworks
- Experience with Agile development processes
Preferred Qualifications
- ISTQB certification or similar a plus
- Experience with BDD frameworks (Cucumber, SpecFlow)
- Knowledge of containerization (Docker)
- Experience with cloud testing platforms
- Background in frontend or backend development
