Senior Data Scientist – NLP / Applied AI

We are looking for an experienced Data Scientist with strong expertise in Natural Language Processing (NLP) to join a technology-driven AI role within a leading defense organization in Central Israel.

This is a highly hands-on position focused on developing and implementing advanced AI solutions and taking them from research and experimentation through to practical, production-oriented capabilities.
The position is fully on-site, with no hybrid work option, and requires candidates to successfully complete a security clearance process.

Responsibilities
Develop and implement AI and Machine Learning solutions, with a strong focus on Natural Language Processing
Take hands-on ownership across the full solution lifecycle — from understanding the challenge and data, through research, experimentation, model development and implementation
Develop and improve models and algorithms for text processing, analysis and understanding
Work with advanced NLP technologies, including Transformer-based models and LLMs
Perform model evaluation, define relevant metrics, analyze performance and continuously improve model quality
Collaborate with software, product and technology teams to integrate AI capabilities into existing and new systems
Explore emerging AI technologies, methodologies and tools and assess their applicability to real-world challenges

Requirements
At least 3 years of hands-on experience as a Data Scientist, with significant expertise in NLP
Proven hands-on experience developing Machine Learning / Deep Learning solutions
Strong practical experience with text processing, NLP and NLU
Strong Python skills and experience with common Data Science and Machine Learning frameworks and libraries
Solid understanding of model training, evaluation, validation and optimization
Ability to translate complex operational or technological challenges into practical AI solutions
Ability to work independently in a complex technological environment

Advantages
5+ years of Data Science experience
Experience with LLMs, Generative AI, RAG and/or AI Agents
Experience with Hugging Face, PyTorch and/or TensorFlow
Experience taking AI/ML models from research and experimentation into Production
Experience working with unstructured data and complex NLP systems
