Junior Backend Engineer

DoControl is a SaaS Security Posture Management solution offering visibility, threat detection, and remediation for sensitive data exposure and insider threats. DoControl secures SaaS data, identities, connected third-party apps & configurations to ensure comprehensive protection across major SaaS ecosystems, including Google Workspace, Slack, Microsoft 365, Salesforce, and Box.

Our technology stack is based on AWS managed services and serverless architecture. Therefore, an extensive understanding of AWS / Cloud technologies is necessary.

Requirements:

Basic to good knowledge of TypeScript
Understanding of backend fundamentals:
REST APIs
HTTP methods, status codes
Basic authentication concepts (API keys, OAuth – high level)
Experience working with Node.js
Familiarity with GitHub: Creating repositories, Pull requests, Code reviews
Understanding basic Git workflow (branch PR merge)
Ability to read existing code and make small improvements or fixes
Good communication skills and willingness to ask questions when blocked
Super Strong motivation to learn and grow as a backend engineer

Curiosity and ownership mindset

Ability to take a task and push it forward

Transparency when something is unclear or takes longer than expected

Desire to understand why things work not just make them work.

Role and responsibilities:

Learn and develop backend services using TypeScript and Node.js
Continuously improve technical skills through hands-on development and self-learning
Explore existing codebases to understand system flow and architecture
Take responsibility for learning new technologies, tools, and integrations as needed
Implement REST APIs under guidance and gradually take more ownership
Research solutions independently before asking for help
Investigate bugs and issues by reviewing logs and code behavior
Ask clear and structured questions when support is needed
Apply feedback from code reviews to improve code quality
Write clean, readable, and maintainable code
Document learnings, decisions, and solutions for future reference
Collaborate with team members and actively participate in technical discussions
Show initiative in suggesting improvements or optimizations
