R&D Lead - Moderation

We are here to build Cloudinary’s next big thing. We accelerate Cloudinary’s business growth by quickly developing & validating new product ideas in search of product-market fit. The potential impact is huge, we have a lot on our plate, and we could use some help around here.
Cloudinary is seeking an R&D Lead to lead the development of Moderation, a new product being built in its Emerging Business group. Moderation will leverage visual media AI to perform brand-aligned moderation of images and videos. We’re a small-sized, high-paced, and incredibly independent team. We take full end-to-end ownership of our product - from design and development to deployment and testing.
Responsibilities
Lead and be accountable for any and all development efforts, just like a Co-founder & CTO
Co-lead the pod alongside its GM as a counterpart
Develop deep understanding of the target user persona’s needs, and passion for the underlying market problem, to build a product that would delight them
Leverage Cloudinary’s powerful platform to get a product to market as soon as possible, only developing what will move the needle
Constantly adjust focus to what is needed to make the product/venture successful
Requirements
10+ years of professional experience as a developer
5+ years of professional experience as a development manager
Proficient in Python and have experience with machine learning/LLM/Gen AI libraries and frameworks
Extensive experience serving large Enterprise customers - a strong advantage
Strong hands-on experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS
Knowledge of image or video technologies is an advantage
Knowledge of cloud-based architectures and web technologies
Enthusiastic, humble, and user-centric
Eager to learn new things
Prior experience in a startup environment is an advantage, ideally as a co-founder
