Junior scientist- Temporary position

Summary of role and team
We are seeking a motivated Junior Scientist to join our Cell Line Innovation team on a temporary basis as a replacement for a maternity leave. Our team is dedicated to exploring innovative approaches to enhance the performance of proprietary cell lines, with a particular focus on media development.

In this role, you will take part in both wet-lab and computational work (approximately 80% experimental, 20% bioinformatics). You will combine hands-on cell culture and molecular biology with bioinformatics, data analysis, and cross-functional collaboration. Your contributions will directly impact ongoing projects through experiment execution, results analysis, and effective communication of findings to project stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Cell culture lab work: seeding and passaging cell cultures, cell counting.
Analysis of biological data sets to produce meaningful and relevant biological connections.
Preparation of culture media and supplements for experiments.
Apply molecular biology techniques to address biological questions.
Collaborate with scientists from other divisions within the company.
Analyze, document, and present results according to project goals and timelines.

The Ideal Candidate

Must-Have

MSc in Life Sciences or BSc in Life Sciences with 1–2 years of experience in a related field.
Experience in data science/bioinformatics focusing on analyzing NGS data (RNA-seq and whole genome).
Programming skills in python and/or R studio and/or Matlab.
Hands-on experience with tissue/cell culture and aseptic techniques.
Work on a wide range of data sets from various species.
Highly organized, meticulous, and able to maintain accurate records with strong attention to detail.
Ability to handle repetitive and routine tasks with consistency.
Passionate, team-oriented, with strong interpersonal skills and independent thinking.
Comfortable working in a dynamic and fast-changing environment.
Strong ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work both independently and collaboratively.

Nice to Have

Experience with molecular biology methods (RT-qPCR, DNA and/or RNA extraction).
Background in metabolic pathways and/or cancer metabolism.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Work experience in a global, food, or startup company.
Problem-solving mindset and curiosity-driven approach.
