Join this team, and you'll collaborate with engineers across Apple to build and deploy forward-looking prototype systems that contribute to the development of our world-renowned hardware and software architecture The Platform Architecture cloud team develops advanced modern cloud services. These services include networking, storage, and computing for cloud customers. A Platform Architecture cloud team member is responsible for architecting and implementing the various cloud services. Some services are pure distributed systems and some are more “low” level dealing with various hardware resources (storage, network, etc.). The individual needs to be adept in software development and system architecture. Knowledge in networking, storage, virtualization, and security are not mandatory but can help in shortening the learning curve

Key Qualifications

- Knowledge of cloud technologies/networking/storage is an advantage
- Knowledge of distributed systems is an advantage
- Strong programming skills in either C/C++ Java or GO is an advantage
- Strong software debugging skills are an advantage
- Independent, versatile, and fast learner

Description

In this role, the candidate is expected to develop the components that comprise a modern cloud and implement them so that the services will be scalable, fault-tolerant, and facilitate hardware offloading wherever possible. The candidate will deliver code that runs under the compute node domain (host and overlay networking, storage endpoint such as block service, etc.) and on the other hand also work on the control plane of the cloud which needs to be distributed, efficient, and fault tolerant. The deliverable is a product that should be consumable by the various teams in Apple that deploys cloud infrastructure (in some cases a POC grade code is acceptable, depending on the end customer) The candidate is expected to work both internally within the Platform Architecture cloud and to collaborate with both Platform Architecture systems and cloud-related groups across Apple

Education & Experience

.Student of CS, CE, or EE with 3-4 semesters till graduation
