Software Engineer, Search Engine Systems

Description:

We're looking for a talented Backend Engineer to join our algo & ML team. You'll play a pivotal role in enhancing the search experience for 10s of millions of users worldwide, designing and implementing advanced algorithms that make our platform more intuitive and effective.

• Develop and optimize the core retrieval systems that form the backbone of our search architecture, focusing on enhancing the recall and precision of search results.
• Utilize technologies like Elasticsearch, Lucene, Vespa, and machine learning models to build scalable search retrieval systems solutions that form the primary source for our search platform.
• Work closely with data scientists, product managers, and fellow engineers to integrate machine learning models and algorithms.
• Use search metrics such as nDCG, MRR, and user behavior analysis to pinpoint improvements, and conduct rigorous A/B testing and online experiments to validate changes and assess their impact.
• Address complex business challenges related to retrieval by breaking them down into manageable components, conducting in-depth research, and pioneering innovative features for search retrieval.

• BSc or MSc in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent
• 5+ years of software development experience 
• 2+ years of experience with a focus on search/recommendation/ads technologies and relevance engineering
• Proficiency in programming languages like Go, Python
• Strong understanding of information retrieval, NLP, graph architectures and machine learning concepts
• An avid learner with a deep passion for data
• Eager to explore new territories and solve complex problems
• Fluent in English, with strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to visualize and explain complex concepts
