Data Engineering Team Leader

As the Data Engineering Team Leader at aiOla, you will be responsible for leading and managing our Data Engineering team, overseeing all aspects of data management, and driving the development of robust, efficient data pipelines. Collaborate with cross-functional teams in Data Science, Backend Development, Project Management, and DevOps to advance our projects and promote the adoption of aiOla’s solutions. Reporting to the Director of Data Engineering, your leadership and proactive involvement will be key in achieving our strategic objectives.

Requirements:

Minimum of 7 years' experience in Data Engineering, with proven leadership experience (both as a Tech Lead or Team Lead).
Experience with AirFlow/Prefect and Athena for workflow management.
Familiarity with non-relational databases such as Athena, Presto, and DynamoDB.
Skilled in AWS cloud compute and storage services.
Proficient with Docker and Kubernetes for containerization and orchestration.
Demonstrated experience in data processing and ETL in production settings.
Ability to handle complex data sets effectively.
Knowledge of data visualization and analytics is a plus.
B.Sc degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics - an advantage.
Strong leadership, team management, and collaborative abilities.
Excels in dynamic, fast-paced environments with self-direction, creativity, and determination.

Responsibilities:

Lead and manage the Data Engineering team, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence.
Define aiOla’s Data Model and oversee the development of data pipelines for aiOla’s Data Lake.
Collaborate with the Data Science team to develop data pipelines for AI model performance monitoring.
Ensure data quality across all data pipelines and act as the gatekeeper for data integrity.
Take ownership of projects from concept to deployment, managing resources, timelines, and deliverables effectively.
Contribute to diverse projects focused on automating data processes with various technologies.
Define access patterns for all data layers, including operational and analytical layers.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into scalable solutions.
Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in data engineering to drive continuous improvement and innovation within the team.
