As a Junior Backend Developer, you'll join our Kotlin/Java team developing high-performance backend services for our quantum computing control stack. You'll benefit from structured mentorship while contributing to real-world features in a technically challenging environment.

What You'll Do

- Develop and maintain concurrent JVM-based services that power our quantum control systems.

- Implement clean, well-tested backend APIs and components with guidance from senior engineers.

- Participate in code reviews to improve your skills and learn industry best practices.

- Troubleshoot and resolve threading, performance, and reliability issues.

- Help design and implement resilient error-handling and data processing pipelines.

- Write efficient and safe code that interacts with both hardware and software components.

- Grow your understanding of system architecture and design patterns in a production environment.

Requirements:

Required Qualifications

Basic programming skills in any language (Java/Kotlin familiarity is a plus).
Understanding of fundamental CS concepts.
Collections and data structures (when to use Lists, Maps, Sets).
Basic concurrency principles and thread safety.
Exception handling and resource management.
Core OOP principles (inheritance, encapsulation, polymorphism).
Problem-solving ability and eagerness to learn complex systems.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, or related field.
Strong communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment.
Fluent in English (verbal & written).

Preferred Skills:

Bonus Points For

Experience with Spring Boot or similar frameworks.
Exposure to gRPC or RESTful API development.
Knowledge of proper database connection handling.
Awareness of dependency injection and testable design.
Basic Python scripting abilities.
