Team8 Startup–Head of Engineering

Description:

An early-stage Team8 startup, founded by experienced entrepreneurs, building a data-driven, AI-powered technology platform for large-scale, complex environments.

As a Head of Engineering, you will lead and grow a high-performing group of senior engineers while staying deeply involved in architecture and technical decision-making. You will own execution end-to-end, define the technical vision, set strong engineering standards, and work closely with product and company leadership as part of the founding team.

Responsibilities

• Build, lead, and mentor a growing group of senior engineers.
• Own technical execution, delivery, and architectural decisions across the platform.
• Drive high standards for code quality, reliability, observability, and production readiness.
• Partner closely with product and leadership on priorities, roadmap, and strategy.
• Design and operate scalable, secure, and cost-efficient cloud infrastructure.
• Shape the engineering culture, processes, and best practices from the ground up.

• 7+ years of hands-on, production-grade software development experience.
• 5+ years of experience leading and managing engineering teams in fast-paced environments.
• Practical experience designing, building, and operating AI/ML-driven systems (e.g., data pipelines, model development and deployment, model serving, or AI-powered products in production). 
• Hands-on experience developing with AI and driving its adoption across the organization, leading cross-team integration of AI into products and workflows while turning it into production-grade, company-wide impact.
• Proven experience designing and operating scalable, cloud-native SaaS systems.
• Strong experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD, and data-intensive systems.
• Strong technical craftsmanship, product mindset, and the ability to balance speed with quality
